Dad and I made the trip to the Dayton Hamvention this year, the first time for both of us. It was a good trip and flying from Atlanta to Dayton is pretty quick. But that also means you can’t easily purchase as much stuff as you have to get it on the plane back with you.
We did see the UPS store and the USPS had a booth, this is pretty smart as it makes it much easier to ship things right from the show floor.
Neither of us purchased anything major, just a few small items. To me there didn’t seem to be any really good deals. And since I live so close to an HRO store it is just easier to buy things at home.
Not sure that we’ll ever go back. The event is much like all of the other hamfests I’ve been to, just quite a bit larger and with a lot more people. And going to to the Orlando Hamcation is easier for us both.
